Women's Partners
United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM) - has conducted
studies examining national and international legislation affecting women's economic,
social and cultural rights in Latin America. It is also conducting research
on the impact of privatization of civic services on women. www.unifem.org
Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) -
the Sub-Regional Office for Eastern and Southern Africa has undertaken several
studies, for example on the impact of HIV/AIDS on women's land rights. www.fao.org
Human Rights Watch - the Women's Rights Division has conducted
research on women's property and inheritance rights in Kenya. The output is
a publication entitled "Double Standards: Women's Property Rights Violations in
Kenya" issued in March 2003. www.hrw.org
Centre on Housing Rigths and Evictions (COHRE) - has publications
on women and forced evictions and is instituting research on women's property
and inheritance rights in 10 Sub-Saharan African countries. UN-HABITAT and COHRE
are discussing ways of collaborating and coordinating their research activities

Habitat International Coalition - the Housing and Land Rights Network
(HIC - HLRN) has developed tools to help monitor the implementation
of housing rights. It is starting research into women's property and inheritance
rights in Latin America and the Middle East. www.hic-mena.org
The Huairou Commission (HC) is an umbrella network of 5 major
women's networks:
- Habitat International Coalition - Women and Shelter Network (HIC-WAS)
- Grassroots Organizations Operating Together in Sisterhood (GROOTS International)
- International Council of Women (ICW) - Women's Environment and Development
Organization (WEDO)
- Women for Peace Network (WPN)
The Huairou Commission identifies and publicizes best practices "Our Practices", evolved
from the perspective of grassroots women, homes and communities. www.huairou.org
International Land Coalition - under their Women's Resource Access
Programme, the ILC, has published various brochures titles "Voices
from the Field", which focus on women's access to land and other natural resources
