Graphic Presentation of Basic Human Settlements Statistics

 The visualization of statistical information is limited by the size of the geographical area that belongs to a given country. For reasons of consistency and technical limitations, all countries below one million in population have been excluded. The country coverage for certain statistical topics is limited and statistics, particularly those stemming from national population and housing censuses, are in some cases not up-to-date.

 Apart from the above shortcomings, the publication is a valuable and instructive presentation of human settlements information on a global scale, presenting the following topics:

 Demography: Total population, Population growth and density, Urban and rural population and growth rates, Urbanisation level and growth rate, Urban agglomerations with Population over one million, Household size, Persons per room
Housing: Rooms per housing unit, Owner occupancy-ratio
Housing Facilities: Toilets, Piped water and Electric lighting, Access to safe water, Sanitation services
Economy: GNP per capita, Investment in residential construction, Housing expenditure by Central Government and private, Employment in construction
Land Use: Arable land and permanent crops, Permanent meadows and pastures, Forest and woodlands, Other land
