Wall Charts on Human Settlements Conditions

Two sets of wall charts on "Human Settlements Conditions" have been produced by the City Data Programme (CDP). Both wall charts consists of two parts; the first part covers data for countries/cities in Africa, America North, America South and Asia whereas the second part displays data for countries/cities in Europe and Oceania, together with graphs and text on definition and sources of data.

The first set of wall charts covers data on 304 cities, and the second set contains data for 125 countries, including disaggregation by urban and rural areas. The main source of data for these wall charts is the Human Settlements Statistics Questionnaire 1992.

The statistical topics presented by the wall charts include population, dependent and economically active population, percentage population attending schools, average size of households, number of persons per living quarters, tenant households and percentage of housing units with piped water, toilet, kitchen and electric lighting.

These Wall Charts are reliable reference material for any research on human settlements and are insofar a significant and timely contribution to the Second United Nations Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat II) to be held in Istanbul, Turkey from 3-14 June 1996.
