Congratulations!
Congratulations on the June issue on youth. Habitat
for Humanity is engaging tens of thousands of young
people in our work throughout the United States and
around the world. We are registering students to participate
next Spring in the `Collegiate Spring Challenge Programme'.
Young people will use their Spring break to go out
and build Habitat for Humanity houses in the United
States and in several other countries. We also have
large numbers of young people in the Philippines,
Korea and Japan who are actively involved in the work
of Habitat for Humanity. On the other end of the age
spectrum, earlier this month, we had former Zambian
President, Dr. Kenneth Kaunda, to lead a 20-house
build in Zambia. Three African First Ladies attended
and participated in the building of those 20 houses.
The blitz build was patterned on what former U.S.
President, Jimmy Carter, has been doing with us for
the past 20 years where he goes to a different country
every year to build a number of Habitat for Humanity
houses. Keep up your good work.
- Millard Fuller, Founder and President, Habitat
for Humanity International.

Handbook on Best Practices, Security of Tenure and
Access to Land
ISBN: 92-1-131446-1
HS: HS/588/99E
Category: Land and Secure Tenure
Year: 2003
Pages: 115
Language: English
UN-HABITAT's new Handbook on Best Practices, Security
of Tenure and Access to Land identifies some of the
innovations at the global level in the field of land
management and land tenure trends. It shows how governments,
including local government and other stakeholders,
are coming to grips with implementing the land related
principles enshrined in the Habitat Agenda at a practical
level in the cities and towns.
It is useful as a benchmark to assess at a global
level the tools, methods and approaches that exist
for the implementation of the Global Campaign for
Secure Tenure, and to identify the gaps, blockages
and problems that still need to be addressed.
