Brazil
Brazil National Programme

This Brazil National Programme is jontly supported by the LA21 Programme, UNEP through the GEO Cities Programme , the Ministry of Cities and the Ministry of Environment. The Programme is part of the joint UN-HABITAT – UNEP Urban Environment Strategy for Latin America and the Caribbean . Implementation of the Programme starts during the second half of 2004 in four cities: Maraba, Quirinopolis, Beberibe and Paranhas. Urban Environmental Profiles will be produced under the form of GEO City reports and City consultation are programmed at the beginning of 2005. National and local anchoring institutions will provide direct technical support to the cities and to work on the adaptation of GEO and Environment Planning and Management tools to the Brazilian context.
