This project was developed during 2003 following a request of the Ministry of Aménagement du Territoire.
Implementation of the project started at the end of 2003 with the institutional setting up of project (selection of urban centres, recruitment of regional and local coordinators, etc.).
At the beginning of April 2004, a launching workshop was organised during which local coordinators and consultants were sensitised to the Local Agenda 21 approach and trained for the preparation of environmental profiles.
Urban centres initially participating in the regional project are: Chichaoua, Tahannaout, Ait Ourir, Kelaat Sraghna and Ben Guerir . The Essaouira Local Agenda 21 project is also being supported by the Regional Project.
