BROCHURE - Energy Access for the Urban Poor
As part of its normative work in energy and transport, the overall goal of UN-Habitat is develop norms, standards and management toolkits to assist stakeholders in the energy and transport sectors to improve management and planning capabilities, particularly as applied in the context of informal settlements.

Energy-Environment Linkages in African Cities: Final Report of the Regional Workshop, UNCHS (Habitat), Nairobi, 2000
The production and use of energy are associated with certain negative environmental impacts, including land-base and atmospheric pollution which threatens the very health and well-being of African society. This publication calls for a new approach to managing the production and consumption of energy in African cities that will more appropriately address the equity, efficiency and environmental considerations of energy usage in a more well-balanced manner.

Global Overview of Construction Technology Trends: Energy-Efficiency in Construction
This publication attempts to bring together recent advances in construction technology which are suited to low-cost construction using locally-available resources. Particular emphasis has been given to energy efficient and cleaner technologies. Selected energy-efficient building design concepts have also been incorporated.

Energy Conservation In The Production And Maintenance Of Buildings, Vol. 1: Use Of Solar Energy And Natural Cooling In The Design Of Buildings For Developing Countries
Emphasizes the possibilities of using renewable sources of energy instead of conventional fuels to heat buildings in the cool season and to heat them in the hot season through the proper design and construction of buildings.

Case Studies on Measures for Energy-efficient Shelter and Infrastructure
Focuses on the use of solar heating and natural cooling techniques for buildings and infrastructure. Considers natural, renewable sources of energy, energy-conservation measures and bio-climatic design principles.

Energy Audit Manual: for Use in the Operation of Buildings
Deals with the necessity of energy conservation in developing countries as they become industralized and their populations grow - the need for increasing amounts of energy places a heavy burden on energy-supply systems. Primarily addresses house-owners and managers of small, medium and large buildings in both the private and public sectors; deals with a practical methodology for reducing energy consumption in buildings and provides information on energy auditing procedures in a non-technical manner.
