November 2004: Expert Group Meeting on Secure Land Tenure: "New legal frameworks and tools" was held at the UN headquaters in Gigiri, Nairobi, November 10-12, 2004. The meeting was organised by FIG Commission 7, UN-HABITAT, the Institution of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK) and the Commonwealth Association of Surveying and Land Economy (CASLE). It was supported by: Austrian Development Agency (ADA), Austria; Cadastre, Land Registry and Mapping Agency, The Netherlands; Ministry of Foreign Affairs, The Netherlands; and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH, Germany. http://www.fig.net/commission7/

September 2004: 2nd World Urban Forum, Cities, Crossroad of Cultures, Inclusiveness And Diversity, Barcelona, 13-17 September 2004, Networking Event on Land and Urban Poverty: The event on land and urban poverty was attended by approximately 70 participants from all over the world representing the different layers of stakeholders in urban land management. June 2003: Regional Seminar on Secure Tenure held in Nairobi - During a workshop 12-13 June under the auspices of the Institute of Surveyors of Kenya (ISK), the Commonwealth Association of Surveyors and Land Economists (CASLE) and UN-HABITAT, many commitments were made. February 2003:UN-HABITAT's Gender Mainstreaming Unit organized an Expert Group Meeting on Gender & Women's Issues in Human Settlements, sponsored by the Government of Norway.

October 2002: UN-HABITAT's Land and Tenure Section organized the African Regional Civil Society Consultation on Women and Adequate Housing, in support of the UN Special Rapporteur on Adequate Housing. Women and women's organizations from Eritrea, Uganda, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Rwanda shared presentations and testimonies. The meeting was sponsored by the UN Housing Rights Programme and the Global Campaign for Secure Tenure.

March 2003:Some of the findings can be found in the report of the the Special Rapporteur on adequate housing as a component of the right to an adequate standard of living, and on the right to non-discrimination, (E/CN.4/2003/55).
