Research & Tool Development HIGHLIGHTS Global Land Tool Network UN-HABITAT's Land and Tenure Section has conducted research into: Best practices in achieving secure tenure. The findings will be posted on this website soon and are being developed into tools Urban land management and local governance in Sub-Saharan Africa Affordable land management options and a range of pro-poor flexible tenure types are being developed Women's land, housing and property rights in post-conflict situations and during reconstruction Women's land, housing and property rights in East Africa (Uganda, Tanzania & Kenya, and also including a chapter on international human rights instruments ) Land, housing and property rights in the Balkans (Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Montenegro): research is ongoing, with similar research due to start in Southern Africa and Latin America Outputs The research findings and recommendations are published and fed into the UN-HABITAT led Global Campaign for Secure Tenure and the UN Housing Rights Programme. In addition, concrete tools are being developed from the research findings, for use by a variety of stakeholders such as women's networks, NGOs, CBOs, human rights organizations, research institutions, governments, parliamentarians and paralegals.
