is a joint UN-HABITAT/UNEP facility established in the early 1990s to build capacities in urban environmental planning and management. The programme targets urban local authorities and their partners. It is founded on broad-based stakeholder participatory approaches. UN-HABITAT campaigns launched in Cuba and 6th global meeting of the Sustainable Cities Programme and Localising Agenda 21
Havana, 7 July 2005 – UN-HABITAT has formally launched its two global campaigns on secure tenure and urban governance in Cuba in a new drive to consolidate the fight against urban poverty.

The 3rd World Urban Forum will take place in Vancouver, Canada, from 19 to 23 June 2006.
Havana 2005 – Achieving Sustainable Urbanization: Innovations for Global and Local Results
The meeting offers the partners of the UN-HABITAT Urban Environment Section the opportunity to advance their collective know-how, exchange experiences, review activities, and discuss how to mainstream Environmental Planning and Management (EPM) into local, national and global policies.
