Local Elected Leadership Training- Regional Training Workshop For Eastern And Southern Africa
TCBB has successfully completed the East and Southern Africa launch of the Elected Leadership Series through a seven-day Training-of-Trainers Workshop conducted in Pretoria, South Africa on 7-13 May 2006. The Workshop was organized jointly by UN-HABITAT and several critical South African partners: Institute for Democratic Alternative in South Africa (IDASA), South Africa Local Government Association (SALGA), Department for Provincial and Local Government (DPLG) and the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA).

Strengthening Key Competencies On Leadeship For Improved Local Governance In The South Pacific Region
A Training of Trainers Workshop and Pilot Seminar based on UN-HABITAT's Elected Leadership series was implemented from 27 March - 8 April 2006 in Suva, Fiji. Some 30 trainers representing 8 Islands states (Papua New Guinea, Kiribati, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Tuvalu, Vanuatu, Tonga, and Fiji) benefited from the two-week training programme.

Asia-Pacific Launch of the Training of Trainers Workshop on the Elected Leadership Series
New Delhi, 27 January-2 February 2006 Twenty-two senior representatives from the Asia Pacific region belonging to national local government training institutes just concluded a week long training-of-trainers programme based-on one of UN-HABITAT’s most successful publications “The Local Elected Leadership Series”.

UN–HABITAT through its Training and Capacity Building Branch will hold a training of trainers workshop on promoting local economic development (LED) through strategic planning. The four day workshop for Eastern Africa is proposed to expose lead national training institutions, associations of local authorities, local government ministries and municipalities to locally owned and driven development approaches and tools and also explore opportunities for their enhanced role in supporting LED initiatives in their respective countries and at a regional level. |
