Many human settlements have little or no modern infrastructure

The Vacutug has been tested for UNCHS (habitat) in Kibera, a low income settlement in Nairobi (Kenya) through a Kenyan NGO over a period of three years. Kibera was selected because of its physical layout and housing conditions. It covers 225 ha with an estimated population of 700,000 (1999). It has steep slopes and flat ground with marshy areas most of the seasons. The Vacutug has proved its ability to negociate tight turns and narrow passages in Kibera throughout the trial. The Vacutug has proved that it was capable of access to some of the most dense urban area where conventional systems are unable to penetrate.
