Prof. John Friedmann
Professor Emeritus, UCLA and University of British Columbia
John Friedmann is Professor emeritus in the School of Public Affairs at UCLA, Honorary Professor, UBC (Vancouver), and Visiting Chair Professor National Taiwan University. He holds Honorary Doctorates from the Catholic University of Chile and Dortmund University (Germany). He has recently been awarded the first UN-Habitat Lecture Award for his contributions to the theory and practice of human settlements. Among his many publications are China’s Urban Transition (2005), Globalization and the Emerging Culture of Planning (2005), The Prospect of Cities (2002), and Towards a Theory of Place and Place-making in the Cities of China (forthcoming). |
