| Event Description |
This session will feature presentations from local government and First Nation representatives, followed by a round table discussion. The discussion will focus on land management related issues, which hold significant partnership opportunities for First Nations and local governments. These include, but are not limited to, service provision, infrastructure projects, political protocols in working together, regional economic development and by-law compatibility.

This session is jointly hosted by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities and Indian and Northern Affairs Canada.
The Federation of Canadian Municipalities (FCM) has been the national voice of municipal government since 1901. FCM is dedicated to improving the quality of life in all communities by promoting strong, effective and accountable municipal government.
FCM represents the interests of all member municipalities on policy and program matters within federal jurisdiction. Members include Canada’s largest cities, small urban and rural communities and the 18 major provincial and territorial municipal associations.
Indian and Northern Affairs Canada(INAC)has primary, but not exclusive, responsibility for meeting the federal government’s constitutional, treaty, political and legal responsibilities to First Nations, Inuit and Northerners.
The mandate of INAC is to improve the lives of Aboriginal people through economic development, strengthened First Nation governance, education and modernized social programs in partnership with Aboriginal people, other orders of government and non-governmental organizations.
